Sealants Project

225 N. Calvert St. – Baltimore, MD

Back to Projects

Who doesn’t love a trip to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor? The Harbor is Baltimore’s premier waterfront destination, offering countless entertainment and dining options and a stellar view of the Chesapeake.

As more people flock to the Harbor, the demand for unique living space has increased. Developer Monument Realty has produced an appealing solution with their brand new 225 N. Calvert St. apartment complex.

The complex fuses the best of old and new. The traditional facade was restored on the south side facing Lexington St, while the remainder of the building received a decidedly modern update.

Featuring amenities like a rooftop pool/lounge, game room, movie theater, and health club, 225 N. Calvert St. will create an undeniably attractive standard of downtown Baltimore living.

Project Scope

Building 225 N. Calvert Street involved more than just designing luxurious apartments – the building was “re-skinned” to reflect a new, modern appearance.

The highlight of the Hord Coplan Macht-designed building consists of bright Mondrian-style colored panels and floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Installing the panels and glass was the main focus of the “re-skinning” process.

Part of the building still includes the traditional façade and was restored to reflect its historical significance.

According to Pecora’s DC/Maryland/Virginia rep Andrew Stone, everyone that submitted materials for the project submitted Pecora. There was a “comfort level” amongst all involved with Pecora sealants, thanks to years of strong partnership established in the region. Pecora 890NST silicone sealant was chosen for the entire reconstruction, thanks to its proven track record of versatility and contractor familiarity.

TSI Corporation installed the colorful panels on the exterior of the building while J & W Caulking Applicators applied the sealant to the perimeters of the metal panels.

Pecora 890NST is a one-part, neutral-curing, ultra low-modulus silicone sealant that will not stain natural stone such as marble and granite. It reacts with atmospheric moisture to form a durable, flexible building sealant.

Pecora 890NST performs exceptionally well under dynamic conditions due to its ultra-low modulus, high extension/compression, recovery properties and strong adhesion to most building materials.

Buildings like the North Calvert St. complex are the perfect stage for the dynamic properties of 890NST.  Workers from Bradleigh Applications, Vision Contract, and Seal Caulking and Waterproofing applied 890NST to the following exterior skin components:

  • Window and door perimeters
  • Aluminum windows to EIFS panels
  • Metal composite panels
  • Hollow metal door frames
  • Brick

Pecora Protects 225 North Calvert St.

Buildings like North Calvert Street need to look as sleek and appealing as possible. 890NST’s ability to adhere to a variety of substrates, coupled with its non-staining capabilities, make it the perfect match for modern building silhouettes. It’s a one-stop sealant that eliminates the need for using multiple products.
