Streamline Sustainable Design Documentation

Simplify your path to LEED, Green Globes, Living Building Challenge and other Green Building
Certification with Pecora’s standardized Green Building Certification letters.

LEED, the nationally and internationally recognized green building rating system, provides a framework
for the sustainable design, construction, and operation of high-performance buildings. While LEED does
not evaluate or certify individual products, product documentation can help project teams demonstrate
compliance with specific credit requirements within the certification process.

Materials

Material Transparency

Pecora is committed to providing accessible material information to support sustainable building
goals and informed product selection. Pecora offers Health Product Declarations (HPDs) for
select products. HPDs are currently available for the following Non-Staining silicone and
architectural silicone joint sealants: 890NST, 890FTS, 890FTS-TXTR, 898NST & PCS.

VOC Content
Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content for Pecora products can be found on individual product
data sheets. In addition, Technical Bulletin 86 provides a comprehensive overview of VOC content
and, where applicable, VOC emissions data for Pecora’s full product line. This bulletin is designed
to help project teams verify compliance with, but not limited to U.S. EPA National VOC Standards,
Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) Model Rule, California Air Resources Board (CARB), South
Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule 1168, and LEED.

Red List & Chemical Disclosure
While Pecora ingredients have not been inventoried to 1:100 ppm (0.01%), none of the chemicals
listed on the March 2023 CAS Red List Guide are intentionally added to our products.
Based on Pecora’s current knowledge of its raw materials and manufacturing processes, listed
chemicals are not expected to be present in products as supplied, except as potential trace
impurities. Continued Red List conformance depends on upstream supply chain stability and may
be subject to change.

Life Cycle Analysis & Embodied Carbon
At this time, Pecora does not have published Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), Environmental
Product Declarations (EPDs), or embodied carbon data available. Development of lifecycle impact
documentation is under evaluation as part of ongoing sustainability initiatives.

 

INDOOR ENVIRONMENT

Low Emitting Materials

Pecora utilizes Intertek Clean Air Gold Certification to demonstrate compliance of select sealant
products with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) low VOC emissions limits,
tested in accordance with Standard Method v1.2-2017. VOC emissions testing applies to products
used in interior building applications.

In addition, Technical Bulletin 86 provides an overview of VOC content and, where applicable,
VOC emissions data for Pecora’s full product line.

Mold Prevention

Uncontrolled air infiltration can introduce outdoor pollutants, allergens, and moisture into
building assemblies, compromising indoor air quality. Pecora air barrier systems help limit the
movement of moisture-laden air, reducing the risk of condensation and mold development within
wall assemblies. By preventing air leakage, these systems contribute to a healthier and more
durable indoor environment.

Thermal Comfort
Air leakage contributes to drafts, uneven temperatures, and localized cold or hot spots within
buildings. Continuous air sealing using Pecora sealants and air barrier systems stabilize indoor
temperatures by sealing joints, seams, penetrations, and transitions.

Acoustic Performance
Properly sealed joints and penetrations help reduce sound transmission between spaces. Pecora
acoustic sealants are designed to enhance sound control within wall assemblies by sealing gaps
that allow airborne sound to travel. By improving airtightness at partitions and transitions, these
systems contribute to enhanced indoor acoustic performance and occupant comfort.

 

ENERGY

Air leakage is one of the primary causes of energy loss in buildings. Uncontrolled air movement
transports heat and moisture, increases heating and cooling loads, and reduces insulation effectiveness.

By controlling air and moisture movement, continuous air barrier systems help preserve envelope
integrity and maintain long-term energy efficiency. Weatherproofing the building envelope using joint
sealants and air, vapor-retarding, and water-resistive coatings is essential for restricting infiltration and
exfiltration.

While air barrier membranes reduce leakage, sealants and flashing play a critical role in maintaining
continuity at transitions, joints, penetrations, and fenestrations. 

SITE

Urban Heat Island Effect Reduction

Urban heat islands increase ambient temperatures, elevate cooling loads, and negatively impact
surrounding ecosystems. To reduce these impacts, use high-reflectance traffic coatings that
prevent excessive heat absorption and retention.

Building Reuse
Extending the lifecycle of existing structures is one of the most effective ways to reduce embodied
carbon and conserve resources. Pecora sealants and coatings are compatible with traditional
construction materials including brick, stone, concrete, plaster/gypsum, metal, and glass, making
Pecora products well suited for adaptive reuse, historic restoration, Façade restoration and
redevelopment projects.
