Silicone/Urethane Hybrids
Silyl Terminated Polyurethanes (STPU)
BASIC USE:
- Broad use in construction, institutional, industrial, DIY, automotive, marine and transportation markets (not recommended for structural sealant glazing applications)
BENEFITS:
- No CO2 evolution associated with single component urethane. Less incidents of swelling or bubbling in joints where moisture is present.
- No isocyanate content
- Excellent adhesion and movement capabilities
- Good UV and heat stability
- Paintable
- Exceptional bonding to most construction substrates including plastics, metals, wood and stone
- Can exceed ± 50% joint movement capability (ASTM C 920) even in low temperatures
- Contain little to no solvent; contribute to less VOC; yield very low to no odors compared to other chemistries
LIMITATIONS:
- Not recommended for structural sealant glazing applications
